Mike Allen is starting his 5th year as head basketball coach at Olathe South. His overall record is 67-26 with four state appearances. He was assistant varsity coach at South from 2009-2016 where he was fortunate to be a part of the 2010 state championship team. He previously coached boys (1994-2009) and girls (2000-2015) basketball at Frontier Trail Junior High. He also coached AAU Boys from 2005-2014. Coach Allen retired from softball in 2019 after being the head coach at South since 2002. Once again, he was very fortunate to be the head coach on two state championship teams in 2015 and 2016. In 2018, Coach Allen won the NAIA Champions of Character Award, and he was inducted into the Olathe South Hall of Fame in 2019. Coach Allen teaches Honors English I and Guided Study, and he is the assistant girls golf coach at South.
Coach Allen has been married to his wife, Stacey, for 31 years. They have three children: Amy (28, reading specialist in Olathe and married to Griff Young), Matthew (24, Cerner), and Abigail (20, junior at Emporia State). Coach Allen’s granddaughter, Georgia Mae, is now 18 months, and his second grandchild will arrive this April.
Assistant Varsity Coach
Coach Hoffman is starting her 5th year as a coach in the Olathe South Lady Falcon program . Previously she was an Assistant Varsity Coach at Shawnee Mission East and at McPherson High School. Since that time, she has worked with various youth programs in both districts as well as with her own children. Coach Hoffman served three years as the Athletic Director at Pioneer Trail Middle school during her time there as a 7th grade science teacher. Coach Hoffman currently teaches AP Biology and Biology at Olathe South.
She is married to Chad Hoffman, Freshmen counselor at OS, and together they have four children – Coby, Kylie, Jack and Hank.
Junior Varsity Coach
Kelly is starting her 9th year as coach of Olathe South's Junior Varsity team, but has over 22 years of coaching experience. She was the 2011 recipient of the Walt Tylicki Memorial Award given by the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association.
Kelly played basketball and volleyball at Baker University where she received a Physical Education teaching degree. She then went on to finish a Master's in School Administration. Kelly currently teaches Physical Education at Brookwood Elementary School. Her family includes husband, Brian, and children Dillon and Reagan.
Jennipher is new to the Olathe South basketball program this season as the Sophomore team coach.
Mark is new to the Olathe South basketball program this season as the Sophomore team coach.
